Digital Initiatives

How the library uses technology to make resources easier to find and use.

Key digital initiatives include the Koha library system and OPAC, RFID technology, the Refread e-Library, scholarly databases, mobile apps and the Bloomberg Terminal.

  1. 1

    Koha ILMS (26.05.01)

Manages the collection and daily operations: cataloguing, circulation, membership records, and book issue, return and renewal. The OPAC helps users discover library resources.
  2. 2

    RFID-based library system

Identifies and manages library materials, streamlines circulation, and helps with stock verification and inventory.
  3. 3

    Refread e-Library platform

Access to subscribed e-books, e-journals and other digital learning resources, depending on subscriptions and sign-in.
  4. 4

    Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC)

Search the catalogue online by title, author, subject and more.
  5. 5

    E-Library mobile apps

Reach supported digital resources from smartphones and tablets.
  6. 6

    Online reservation and renewal

Reserve books or renew loans through the library system, subject to borrowing rules.
  7. 7

    Digital research resources and databases

Subscribed databases and platforms for journal articles, research papers and literature reviews.
  8. 8

    Remote access and authentication

Eligible users can use subscribed resources off campus through the University's sign-in methods, where each platform supports it.
  9. 9

    Bloomberg Terminal

Financial, business and market information for finance, economics and management.
  10. 10

    User support and training

Help with OPAC searches, e-Library access and databases, plus demonstrations and training.
